Hello, This is Xiaoyu YANG (杨小羽), or you can call me Derick. I am a Computational Media & Arts MPhil student in Information Hub at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), advised by Pan HUI. I am a member of MC2, the center for metaverse and computational creativity. I love playing the guitar🎸 and doing Chinese calligraphy✍️.

My research journey started from legal studies and fieldwork on social justice issues. Over time, I became increasingly interested in how digital technologies mediate human behavior, access, and agency. I am interested in working at the intersections of human-computer interaction, law, policy, and design to build inclusive and equitable socio-technical systems. I’m interested in topics regarding:
